Check to make sure that overflow holes are not clogged up. Overflow holes are one of those things which you forget about until you need them. As you routinely look for things needing attention, check to be sure that the overflow holes are clear and unblocked.
Frozen pipes are on of the most expensive plumbing problems. Normally, you will be able to prevent this issue. The first thing to do is make sure that all of the outside pipes are well insulated. And when the temperatures start dropping, you will want to drain your hoses and disconnect them, and then turn off all of the outside faucets. A bit of prevention prevents a costly plumbing bill.
If your home has low water pressure, you can often fix the problem by cleaning out the aerators on your fixtures. The aerator should be removed and taken apart. Then, clean with a tiny brush swabbed in vinegar. Wash it off, put it back together and connect the aerator to the faucet. Remove the sediment from the aerator to increase water pressure.
